Meet The Team

Linda Lowther

Salon Owner

What do you do in the salon?

As well as looking after the business side of things, I work closely with Donna to ensure that we are giving the best client experience possible.

Why did you get into the health and beauty sector?

I have worked as Donna’s business advisor for the last 3 years and have always been impressed by her commitment, her passion for what does and the quality of treatments that she and the team provide. When Donna first mentioned about selling the business, I jumped at the chance of getting involved.

What’s your ultimate pampering experience?

One of Donna’s massages!

Who would you invite to your fantasy dinner party?

Richard Branson would be the guest of honour. It would be great to swap business tips.

What’s favourite holiday destination?

Steve [Linda’s husband] and I had a fantastic holiday travelling around California. A real adventure!

Which celebrity would you like as a client?

Not being hands on I’m not sure I can answer that but if Hugh Jackman wanted us to look after him, he wouldn’t be turned away!

Donna Wicks

Salon Manager

What do you do in the salon?

Day to day management, Reiki, Reflexology, massage. Most beauty treatments except nail treatments.

What days are you in the salon?

I'm in the salon on a Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Why did you get into the health and beauty sector?

I love the thought that what we do makes people feel better about themselves - both physically and mentally.

What’s your ultimate pampering experience?

I thoroughly enjoy having my nails and lashes done. Running a business as well as looking after a young family, I love peace and quiet so my ultimate pampering experience would need to be a full day away somewhere serene to enjoy a massage, facial and reiki session at a countryside spa.

Who would you invite to your fantasy dinner party?

I am very interested in astronomy, so I’d love to chat to Brian Cox.  Karen Brady is an inspiration as a businesswoman both in terms of her acumen, how she supports women in business and how good she looks! Annie Mac would provide the music.

Rowen Laybourne

The services I offer are: eyelash extensions, party lashes, all waxing and tinting (except hot wax), brow lamination, facials, massage - relaxing, deep tissue, hot stone, nails - shellac, gel overlay, gel extensions and spray tanning.

What days are you in the salon?

I'm in the salon on a Wednesday, Friday (for beauty night) and Saturday.

Why did you get into the health and beauty sector?

I have always enjoyed health and beauty and just fell into the sector.

What’s your ultimate pampering experience?

My ultimate pampering experience would be at a spa lodge in Switzerland with fabulous thermal pools enjoying a facial and Indian head massage.

Who would you invite to your fantasy dinner party?

I would invite Ant Middleton and Jimmy Carr.

What’s favourite holiday destination?

I can’t pick one favourite so my top 3 are: India, Vietnam and Nepal. All equally as incredible but so different!

Our Story

Sheer Bliss is the rebranding of Holistic Health and Beauty.

Launched by experienced Health professional Donna Wicks, Holistic Health and Beauty has been in the heart of Cramlington community for the past 9 years. Ignited by her passion to make her clients feel better about themselves both physically and mentally, Holistic Health and Beauty started as a therapy centre but in line with demand has increased its range of beauty treatments.

As Donna says: “I’m constantly amazed at how the treatments can give our clients a massive boost in confidence.

Through our session’s clients can let go of stagnant energy, stress, anxiety; and this can be some feelings in which relate to negative past experiences, therefore helping them to move forward in a more positive way.

By letting go of this negative energy they can enjoy life more. It’s great to know we are the facilitator of that change.”

Regarding being in Cramlington, Donna continues:

“We love being based in Cramlington and feeling part of the larger community.

We have a very loyal client base. I’ve still got clients who I first started working with 17 years ago when I joined the industry, which is such a lovely compliment to myself and the salon.

The Salon caters for everyone whatever their age. Our youngest client is 11 and our oldest is 93! With the new treatments that we have brought on board recently we’ve found that we are attracting a younger clientele – which is great!”

The Sheer Bliss rebrand reflects the combination of holistic treatments with a full range of beauty treatments.

Sheer Bliss is the result of Donna working closely with Linda Lowther.

Linda is a highly regarded business advisor in the North East area.  After working with Donna as her business advisor for 3 years, Linda took over ownership of Sheer Bliss in September 2019 and invested heavily in a complete refurbishment.

As Linda says:

“I loved working with Donna as her business advisor and I saw a real potential to take the business to the next level.

We’ve listened to our clients. Our clients have told us what treatments they would like and then we’ve trained our fully employed therapists in those treatments.

We have looked at ways to enhance the client experience further both by developing the Salon’s decor and it’s equipment.”

Donna and Linda are committed to keeping up with industry trends and developments. They achieve this by attending trade events and devouring health and beauty magazines. Already for 2020, sheer Bliss are looking at a new facial brand, more holistic therapies and nail art.

The newly refurbished Salon was officially opened by campaigner and blogger Katie Meehan on the 8th November 2019.
